This explains what we collect about you, why, and how to make us stop. It is deliberately short, because there is not much of it.
Who we are
The Clipping Quarter is a clipping agency based in the United Kingdom. It is a trading name of Ben Preston, a sole trader, who is the data controller for the information described here under UK data protection law. You can get in touch at ben@theclippingquarter.com.
What we collect
If you book a call. Our booking page is run by Google Calendar. When you book, you give us your name and email address, and your answers to the questions on the booking form — who we would be promoting, what content you have, and optionally a rough budget. Google also records the appointment itself.
If you email us. Whatever you put in the email, and your email address.
If you become a client. The information needed to run a campaign and to invoice you — a business contact, billing details, and the content you send us.
We do not ask for your phone number, and this website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking of any kind.
Why we use it, and on what basis
- To answer you and prepare for the call — so we turn up having actually looked at your content. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- To run a campaign and get paid — performance of our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep accounting records.
We will not add you to a mailing list. Booking a call is not consent to marketing. If we ever send marketing, it will be because you asked for it, and every message will let you stop it.
Who else sees it
We keep this to a minimum, and we do not sell your data to anybody, ever.
- Google — our email and calendar. Bookings and correspondence live there.
- Cloudflare — hosts this website and handles its traffic.
- Whop — the platform campaigns run on, if you become a client. Clippers see your content and the campaign brief. They do not see your contact details.
- Our accountant and HMRC, where the law requires it.
Google and Cloudflare are US companies and your information may be stored or processed outside the UK. They operate under transfer safeguards recognised in UK law.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not go anywhere are deleted within 12 months. Client records are kept for 6 years after our last dealings with you, because tax law requires it. You can ask us to delete anything earlier than that unless we are legally required to keep it.
What you can ask us to do
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Email ben@theclippingquarter.com and we will respond within one month. It costs you nothing.
If you are unhappy
Tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If this notice changes we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your details, we will tell you.
